‘egg money’ was the rural woman’s single income, she spent it inevitably buying yarn and fabric to make for the family. This work expresses my connection with that tradition. Using machine knitted fabric in 100% pure wool and a felting technique Shibori, to create the forms.

roscommon lamb festival 2014

An interactive knitting installation. The community contributed in making the hand felted yarns which was then hand knitted on a wooden peg frame to create the hanging. It was created in full, over two days. It now hangs in a public space in Roscommon town.

knit & stitch show 2014

An interactive knitting installation. The visitors contributed in making the hand felted yarns which was then hand knitted on a wooden peg frame to create a hanging. Each of the 4 days of the show, a new design was created and then raffled among the contributors.

knit & stitch show 2015

An exhibition and an interactive knitting installation. The visitors were invited to design a square of knitting using the CAD/CAM system displayed on the stand. The collection of squares were assembled into a patchwork for display after the show. Sculptural pieces knitted on circular peg frames were also exhibited & techniques demonstrated.
